New Horizons of SWFL’s dedicated volunteers share our passion for changing the lives of under-resourced K-12 students through tutoring, mentoring and character-building experiences. Every day volunteers are making a direct impact in the lives of hundreds of students in our community. As a volunteer-driven organization, New Horizons accepts and encourages volunteer involvement at all levels of the organization. Once an application is submitted, a member from our team will connect with you regarding the enrollment process.
If you want to empower the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community by tutoring and sharing encouragement, this is the right fit for you.
As a volunteer Tutor & Mentor, assist students once a week, Monday through Thursday, during the school year. You may tutor based on your preferred age range or during the time that suits you best:
Looking to share or sharpen your professional skills in an office setting? We are always looking for support in all of our departments.
Meet your degree and certification requirements by putting the principles you’ve learned into practice. We offer placements in several departments.
Serving the community is fun with friends! We have opportunities for outside groups to give back and make a difference.
Thinking of a project outside the box or have a special talent to share? Fill out the contact form and tell us more!
Fill out the respective application. Volunteers must pass a level two background check in order to work with students. Please note that no personal information will be collected or released from the background check.
Volunteer applications will be accepted through a registration process. Once an application is submitted a member from our team will reach out with next steps for getting you started. All volunteers must be approved prior to volunteering.
Before being appointed to a position, an interview process will occur for all volunteers to ascertain their suitability and interest in the desired position. The interview must determine the qualifications of the volunteer, their commitment to fulfill the requirements of the position, and will answer any questions that the volunteer might have about the position.
New Horizons of SWFL will match volunteers to opportunities that recognize their talents, interests, availability for serving, and to home address.
All volunteers will receive a general orientation on the nature and purpose of the program, overall operation of New Horizons of SWFL, and a specific orientation on the purposes and requirements of the position, which they are accepting in that effort.
Meet the Club Director who will walk you through the programming and set up of the Club prior to volunteering.
“There is no greater satisfaction than to see the 5th graders I have tutored graduate from high school and move on to college. I receive much more in return than the time and effort I give.”
